I’ve never done yoga before, which class should I take?
We have a Gentle Yoga class that is great for beginners, and also a Restorative class that is even more gentle, with an emphasis on relaxing poses and stretches. Please let your instructor know if you have never done yoga before, and be easy on your body….only do the stretches and poses that feel good to you. Try to refrain from comparing to others or the instructor and honor YOUR body….the practice of yoga is individual and progressive so allow your body to gently get used to the poses.

How do I know if class is cancelled due to poor weather conditions?
We follow the Londonderry school/public cancellations and we also update our website when possible.

Why do we relax at the end of class?
Relaxation pose, or Savasana, is the traditional way to end yoga classes. It is a time to allow the body to be still and rest completely following the postures; it gives the body time to absorb and integrate the changes and benefits of the practice.

What is Hatha Yoga?
What most people refer to as simply "yoga" is actually Hatha Yoga. This particular system of yoga is the most popular one, and it is from Hatha that several other styles of yoga originated including Power Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, and Kundalini Yoga. The word "hatha" comes from the Sanskrit terms "ha" meaning "sun" and "tha" meaning "moon", and so it is about the balancing of energies. The practice of Hatha Yoga helps one to achieve balance between body and mind, as well as to free the more subtle spiritual elements of the mind through physical poses or Asanas, breathing techniques or Pranayama, and Meditation.
